When used with the iPad version this is a fantastic app. Great progression on it since it has been released. Setting a new standard for OSX apps.

Simply the best for everything I use PDF’s for!
I was happy using Preview before El Capitan, but with the latest offering from Apply I had to find something better. PDF Expert is very good at marking up PDF documents. Very responsive and easy to mark multiple edits exactly where you want them. It needs some refinement working with network storage like iCloud/Dropbox/etc. I get export errors or connection errors when trying to move documents between services using the PDF Expert interface.
The software used to be amazing. Currently it doesn’t work. It can’t open pdfs without so many glitches that they unreadable. Please fix this once great software!
I mostly anotate PDF with it. Love the integration with the iPad version. Would not have paid full price for this.
I am an Adobe Creative Cloud subscriber and have access to Acrobat Professional. I prefer PDF Expert. Great job Readdle!
With capabilities ranging from easy-to-use highlighting and taking notes of PDF documents to adding and deleting pages within, this reader has become my standard PDF programme on my Mac. IT also syncs seamlessly with iCloud and I can use it in conjunction with the iOS apps without any issues. Highly recommend this programme.
I find the features of this program very useful for highlighting and underlining when studying. And the fact that it saves to my other devices automatically is very, very useful. My one thing I would like to see is for different colors for the comment boxes.
I own PDFPen Pro, and while it does more things (OCR, form creation), I find it way more buggy and frustrating to work with than PDF Expert. When I want to fill out forms, I go straight to PDF Expert. Annotation, PDF Expert. Sharing between Mac and iOS… you guessed it, PDF Expert. Great app. It is a little expensive, get it on sale. If they were to add form creation and editing, it would be worth full price.
I have been using PDF Expert for a while know for my studies and document signing. I use it combined with the iOS app on my iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil. It works like a charm. My files are all synced through Dropbox and I haven’t had any problems yet.
This app is excelllent in theory. It has a much better and simpler layout than Abobe Acrobat with some more useful features. However, at the moment it is extremely buggy. It asks me if I want to set it as my default pdf viewer everytime I open it. It doesn’t ask me if I want to save my changes before closing it, even when the red button has a dot. And it won’t let me undo changes to pdf layouts. Not to mention the crappy merge document open file dialogue, which won’t let me combine two pdfs from different folders. However, the feature set and design are enough to keep me hoping that the next version will be more stable. Update: They have fixed all of the bugs I originally took issue with and I can confidently reccomend this to any student or professional who uses pdfs regularly. It has become an invaluable part of my student workflow. I use the pen and line tools with my small Wacom tablet to take notes during class. I typically write on professor gap notes, and if necessary I can easily insert a ruled sheet of paper in pdf form between the slides. This program is also fantastic for textbooks because it handles bulky files effortlessly. My only complaint is that the pen and eraser tools can sometimes bug out unexpectedly. Occasionally the eraser causes what you have already written to distort, and the pen’s writing can sometimes not show up until the eraser icon is clicked. These bugs are minor and I would definitely reccomend this app.
I use this app on my iPad Air for work everyday. Love it! Very helpful for all that I do. I tell everyone about this app. If anyone ever asks about using a PDF reader I always refer them to PDF Expert.
Great app. Few crashes. So far the best option for a synchronized access on iOS ans OSX The Adobe cloud and apps are well featured but quite a distinct PCish ecosystem
after getting burned on other garbage, this proved to be sweet, clean and simple! playing with and editing .pdf files is effortless, all with a clean and striking gui and overall look. as an industrial designer, everything i work with has to meet design expectations, and make me feel good just like my old NeXt computers managed. a pleasure to use with it’s elemental intuitive nature. loves my mac pro and my postscript printer and my scanner. a good buy to be sure!
For several years I have been using the iOS version of PDF Expert. Always happy. Now with the DeskTop version I am “over the moon” as they say. Edit in either ios or OS X and you have all that you need. iCloud storage makes filing and retrieving simple. Also works very very well with Google Drive. BUY IT !
I just need a place organize PDF files across multiple devices & computers. This app is very clean, fast and reliable PDF viewer / organizer. It is nice to have all my PDF in one place and I can access them from all of my devices.
Excellent app. quick, easy to use, offer variety of ways to edit my pdf files. It is amazing !
The application is really stable and the features are top-notch. It is a great alternative and, in my opinion, a better viewer than Preview on the Mac. The ability to handoff to my ipad is also a real plus. Great job Readdle.
You don’t have a french version for your software ?
I have been using the PDF expert for iPad, then iPHone for years now, and I recomend it to my clients all the time. The MAC app is great extension of that. Makes me more productive. THANKS !
