PDF Expert – Edit, Sign PDFs App Reviews

This is my absolute favorite PDF program and it’s quickly become an essential tool for me as a student. I read a lot of PDF’s and it’s incredibly convenient to be able to have multiple PDF’s open in tabs, and the annotation software is by far the best I’ve used. The program is very stable, and I’ve consistently had more than 20 PDF open without difficulty. I actually even use the program to take notes in class by converting the powerpoint presentations to PDF and then editing them in class. This is a killer program for OS X, and there’s simply no other program that works this well on os x or windows. Totally worth the money.

After a slightly rocky start, PDF Expert for Mac has become a fast, attractive, neat PDF reading and annotation tool. The tabbed viewing is exceptionally useful, and the annotation options (handsome highlights with addable notes) are perfect, especially since they sync across operating systems. And now that Split View has been added, I can do almost everything I need to to PDFs (except OCR - but thats what DEVONthink Pro Office is for) around reading while simultaneously searching for full contained references. Thanks, Readdle!

Finally! It features the split view, which is invaluable when reading scientific papers. You don’t have to scroll back and forth any longer. Very nice!

What more can one say about a PDF editor. It needs to be easy and intuitive to use and work with large and small documents easily. PDF Expert does this and more. Good work to the team!

It “reads” PDFs better than other tools, IMO. But more importantly it allows me to work with PDFs a bit, like editing them, signing them and changing pages. I’ve loved the IOS version for a long time and I think this tool is the best PDF tool for the Mac as well, outside of perhaps Acrobat Pro, which is waaayyy more expensive than this.

I’ve used this app for years on iOS and it has served me well. I’ve always used Preview on OS X which was compatible with PDF Expert’s iOS annotations. However, Preview lacked several functions of PDF Expert (such as draw-highlights for nonselectable PDFs) and became buggy and crash prone in later versions of OS X. I was excited when this was released but hesitant to spend the money since I was getting by on Preview, but it’s simply awesome. Fast, fluid, fully compatible with iOS. If you work heavily with PDFs (300+ pages a week) in acadmia, this is a wonderful app. I was also heistant to leave Preview becuase I knew it would have support from Apple as part of OS X, but PDF Expert’s developer team is simply second to none. Every issue I had with this program initially (no default option for tabs, barebones fullscreen view, etc.) have all been fixed with frequent updates. The last update allows you to chose tab behavior, this update enhances full screen support, and now I can view two pages of a singel document (that are not back to back) saving me the hassel of making a copy of the file on the desktop. If working with PDFs is a serious part of your workflow, this app will most likely be a huge upgrade to you.

I’ve been waiting for a PDF viewer to let me simultaneoulsy see different portions of the same PDF for some time. I’d like to think that this was respnosive to my feedback to Readdle requesting it. :) While being able to see the same PDF in different windows would be better (so you can see the whole document side-by-side) this is certainly a great start and a super-useful feature that will transform my workflow. THANK YOU, Readdle, for your continual improvements and for listening to your customers!

I love this app. You can do some markup with Preview, but nothing like you can do with PDF Expert. And PDF Expert is much easier to use than Preview for annotations. Worth the money for me.

I have not used every feature of either PDF Expert or Adobe Acrobat, however, I have merged documents, rearranged pages, deleted pages, annotated pages, completed forms, etc. using both products. PDF Expert is much more reasonably priced than Adobe Acrobat and just as powerful. There are aspects of process flow that I find more intuitive and displayed friendlier in Adobe Acrobat such as merging files. Regardless, unless you have a complicated merge process consisting of many files in some complicated order, PDF Expert works easily, fluidly, and quickly. If you have need to edit and manipulate PDF documents, PDF Expert is an outstanding tool and well worth the expense. Good job Readdle!

Excellent app overall. For me the killer feature is the ability to have multiple documents open on different tabs within the same window. They also have excellent customer support. There used to be an issue when printing but they worked with me in it and then fixed the bug with an update. The iOS app is 5 star as well.

Sometimes I can’t use highlight menu, so I have to use ‘Pen’ Menu. But there is no preset, which means that if I want to change pen color or thickness, I have to change every setting. It’s really annoying. please make Pen Preset function like iOS Ver..

Sorry PDFpenpro

Started off using Spark (Email), now onto PDF Expert and loving it! The only con is the icon, but that won’t affect performance :)

I got this on suggestion from a fellow Graduate Student. Actually I was in lecture and saw how convenient it was for her to convert a Powerpoint presentation from the lecture to a PDF file and take notes directly on the lecture slides. Not long after that I purchased it for myself and I love the program. I convert most files I read into PDFs and I am able to take my notes directly on the content! Love this program and its features.

I had this software some years ago and was unhappy with its’ limitations. Tried it again recently and immediately replaced my very expensive account with the compeditor, using PDF expert exclusively now. Improvement like that says a lot about a company.

Great app but..

Why doesn’t it sync with the iPad/mobile versions or have the capabilities to connect to Dropbox, etc.?

Love this little program. It loses a star for not having encryption built in and forcing me to do that in Apple’s Preview app, but it’s a fraction of the price of Adobe software and works brilliantly for everyday PDF handling. Props to the developers on producing such excellent software at a such a reasonable price!

Outperforms the indursty stadard Adobe PDF application by far. Routinely update and very responsive devolpers. I haven’t looked back to any previous PDF editors since this came out and do not plan on doing so ever again. Can’t wait for 2.0 to come out!
